High-speed laminating machines are highly automated production systems. They are designed for maximum throughput rates, minimum set-up times and consistent precision in industrial multi-shift operation.
Mass-optimised, balanced components
For specialised requirements, for example, customised precision couplings from the Schmidt-Kupplung series offer the technical solution. Equipped with low-inertia, balanced coupling elements made from high-strength aluminium and featuring oil lubrication, they are optimally designed for these demanding applications.
Similarly, drives in machine tools or automatic placement machines are now increasingly operating at higher speed ranges. This is mainly due to increased productivity requirements and the ever-higher output rates of these systems. High-speed applications are also found in test set-ups for testing test specimens.
On test benches, rotational speeds of 15,000 min-1 and above are the norm.
High impact quality for accurate measurement results
To ensure accurate measurement results, the developers of these test systems pay particular attention to ensuring that the entire powertrain runs as smoothly as possible at these high speeds. For the individual components used in the powertrain, this means that a high level of balance is a fundamental requirement for achieving optimum smoothness of operation in the powertrain when the components are combined. Centrifugal forces and vibrations place a strain on the entire test bench structure and can distort the test bench’s measurement results. The main causes of these phenomena are imbalances and parasitic forces resulting from manufacturing deviations in the measurement and test system, the effects of which increase as the rotational speed rises.
