Handling technology

Handling technology comprises comprehensive process steps, which enable a wide variety of production processes to be optimised. These include handling and automation technology and the entire field of automation and robotics. Due to very high demands in terms of productivity and production performance, these systems operate in a highly dynamic way using modern servo technology.

PCB exposure systems and assembly systems
Technology and quality requirements for the manufacturing of printed circuit boards are constantly increasing. Thus, demands grow in terms of registration accuracy when loading and exposing associated with a higher level of productivity. The axially stiff >>Loewe GK is used in combined pivoting/lifting units for pick and place loading processes, as well as in the z-axes of PCB exposure systems.
Generally, chips, wire bonds or other components on PCBs are completely or partially covered and thus protected from mechanical influences or environmental conditions. This process is called encapsulation. Various cover sizes and formats can be processed flexibly and with a high number of cycles in systems and then fitted on PCBs. On automatically convertible devices, the covers of vacuum-assisted pick and place grippers are removed and placed with high positioning accuracy on the corresponding components to be encapsulated. In these high-precision assembly tasks, >>Spinplus couplings show their strength in the XY-axis, with the accuracy and minimised mass inertia which characterise them, through a drive system consisting of a servo motor and a ball screw.

Handling and automation systems
Automatic assembly machines are of major importance in the rational mass production of small and tiny parts. Typical installation tasks regard, for instance, components for mobile phones, micro-switches, central locking systems and door locks and controllers. According to the extremely high productivity of these systems, absolute accuracy of the drive systems is required. >>Servoflex couplings operate both in the precise conveying process of components to the various processing stations, and in actual assembly and installation processes in the respective stations.
As intermediate shaft couplings, Servoflex couplings are used in gantry and portal robots.
The lightweight aluminium line >>Servoflex is used in the clocked conveying processes of rotary transfer machines. Due to its low mass inertia, it supports precise and highly dynamic work processes.

Vacuum gripping systems
Vacuum gripping systems play a significant role in material conveying systems. Thanks to their mode of operation, they are able to reliably receive and convey fragile products in different formats and sizes to processing stations. This is usually carried out with the aid of robotics or linear systems. Thanks to their precision and mass inertia-optimised design, the backlash-free Servoflex support the dynamic and highly accurate positioning process when receiving and transporting the products using grippers.
