In forming processes, materials used for primary forming are mostly subjected to a number of targeted changes in shape. Since these forming processes are often obtained by rolling, pressing or forging, couplings must be precise, torsionally stiff and sturdy, and have high displacement and offset capacity.
The compact and precise couplings of the >>Schmidt-Kupplung and >>Semiflex lines are used in accurate, clocked operations such as metal sheets transport, products crosscutting and punching, as well as embossing rollers.
Likewise, these couplings are used for driving edge trimming shears, the final process of sheet metal processing.
Axially stiff >>Loewe GK couplings are perfect for sheet metal processing if, in addition to torque, axial forces occur in the application.
Clocked feeding of metal sheets
At the beginning of a system, so-called roller feeds frequently provide for conveying metal sheets to the actual forming process. They move the material automatically and with clocked operation, pulling it with high precision on to the subsequent shape-giving press or roller. For these feeding systems, couplings of the Schmidt-Kupplung line are used. In line with the torque peaks occurring through the clock operation, the torsionally stiff couplings are primarily equipped with frictionally engaged tension hubs.
In special systems with very narrow installation conditions, couplings of the >>Power Plus line were selected due to their maximum torque transmission and compact design.
Precise connection of individual profiling stations in profiling systems
Profiling systems generate roll-formed profiles in a multi-stage forming process. The spectrum of possible shapes is quite diverse. Due to their high radial displacement capacity, Semiflex couplings offer here the necessary function for the various adjustment movements in the machining process.
Thanks to their compactness, they enable the connection of countless profiling stations in a confined space. Split clamping hubs allow radial assembly and disassembly with no axial shift of components. In further profiling systems, Semiflex couplings in the >>tension hub version are used. Again, only very confined installation conditions are available here. This problem can be solved by a special version of the Semiflex Compact Plus coupling with internal clamping sets.
Processing of metal pipes
In special machines for processing metal pipes, Semiflex and Schmidt-Kupplung couplings are used on account of the high demands on radial displacement and adjusting movements. In the machining process, pipes are cut to length, externally grooved and tested as well as sorted in a final process.
Press drives, forge rolling
The hardest impact torques per power cycle occur in the manufacture of chassis parts. The material is preformed, bent and drilled through several work processes under cyclic operation. During material processing, through adjusting movements such as different shaping and thickness adjustment, high parallel and angular displacements occur in the process which are then converted by the >>Omniflex couplings.
