Conveyor technology

Conveyor technology is an integral part of today's logistics for the optimisation of in-house material flows. In this case, the coupling plays a major role for precise, frictionless operation.

Couplings for roller conveyors
So-called roller conveyors are usually required for the transport of lightweight, small-size piece goods. In the process, piece goods are carried to the conveying direction via transversely arranged transport rollers. Driven systems are used in applications where an item to be conveyed is to be stopped and then conveyed again at a later stage. For this reason, these conveyor systems often run with varying transport speed or under cyclic operation. For driving feed rollers by means of servo motors, couplings of the >>Semiflex line are used. To obtain overall conveyor systems, individual modules are combined and connected in a modular system. The space-saving couplings are often used as radially mounted couplings with >>split clamp hubs. The large displacement possibility of precision couplings also ensures the conveying level adjustment of individual sub-modules.

Couplings for belt conveyors
For the continuous transport of piece goods such as packages, work pieces or containers, belt conveyors are used. The conveyor belt as circulating belt moves on conveyor rollers. Additionally, by choosing the belt surface and corresponding friction values, pitches can be overcome without causing the conveyed items to slip away.
The complete system is divided into different segments with different tasks, lengths and speeds; return stations let the items be transported along a curved line. Due to their precision, the couplings of the >>Semiflex line ensure the synchronisation and successive tuning of individual segments. The compact design of the coupling supports the compactness of the entire transport system.

Axially stiff couplings perform axial guiding tasks in efficient storage systems
Efficient storage systems ensure optimum space utilisation and turnover rate. They mostly operate at high driving speeds, in order to ensure the required goods turnover.
In the transverse drives of storage systems, couplings are required to also perform axial guiding tasks in addition to torque transmission. This task is performed by the axially fixed couplings of the >>Loewe GK Torque line.

Monitoring of the conveying and transport processes
In many stations and sections of the conveying and transport processes, sensors and shaft encoders monitor the precise work flow, so that goods are accurately positioned.  >>Controlflex shaft encoder coupling hereby guarantees the exact and precise recording and transmission of measurement pulses. It has been developed in accordance with the mechanical and metrological requirements of shaft encoders. Through its unique function element, the compact shaft encoder coupling combines extremely low restoring force and low stress on the encoder bearings with constant angle-synchronous transmission of the rotary movement. The coupling is electrically insulating, easy to assemble and designed for speeds up to 25,000 min-1 depending on size.
